1. Papaya

Papaya has numerous health benefits and it has been used for centuries to help women brighten their skin. It has the ability to lighten the skin’s texture, as well as to reduce age spots and restore a natural glow.

It contains Vitamins A, C and E and beta-carotene, which are powerful antioxidants and cell regenerators that help skin remain smooth and spot free.

Its most important ingredient, though, is papain, an enzyme that promotes skin cell renewal and lightens skin tone. Papain is also a good exfoliator that helps skin become clear and clean.

  • Cut a papaya in half and scoop out some pulp with a spoon. Rub all over your face every evening.

2. Lemon

Lemons have been used for hundreds of years all over the world as skin lighteners. They have natural brightening properties that help fade dark marks, freckles and age spots and are safe to use on almost any skin type.

Lemon contains vitamins C, A and P and citric acid, also known as alpha hydroxy acid, which is its main bleaching ingredient. Citric acid has the power to exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin and remove hyperpigmented spots. It does so by removing dead skin cells, while promoting the growth of the new ones.

It is frequently used in many home treatments, for it also gives a nice glow to the skin.

  • Cut a lemon lengthwise into four pieces and rub it delicately on your face or pour some freshly squeezed lemon juice on a cotton pad and gently wipe your skin with it. If your skin feels tight and itchy after applying lemon, use a moisturizer. Do it once or twice a day.

3. Yogurt

Yogurt is a very beneficial natural product that can be used in many skin treatments. It contains zinc, calcium, vitamins A, B, D, proteins and lactic acid that has nourishing and exfoliating properties.

The lactic acid contained in yogurt is a natural alpha hydroxy acid that considerably brightens skin and evens out the skin tone. It is a gentle exfoliator that does not irritate skin, but delicately removes outer layers of skin’s texture, while minimizing dark patches and lightening overall complexion.

It also has a beneficial and balancing effect on the skin’s pH levels.

Yogurt not only lightens and nourishes skin, but also contains plenty of good bacteria that can liberate our skin from harmful microorganisms, which cause acne, blemishes and other skin disorders.

  • Soak a cotton pad with fresh, plain yogurt enriched with live cultures and wipe over your face. Reapply every time it starts drying and do it for 30 minutes every day.

4. Avoid Strong Sun

Avoid direct and long sunlight exposure. It will lead to premature aging and make your skin become darker. It will also cause rude, dry, as well as scaly and rough skin texture overtime.

If you are not protected, sun may in some cases induce the formation of hyperpigmented spots and excessive amount of freckles. And worst off all, it may increase the risk of skin cancer.

Always wear a broad-brimmed hat and sunglasses and never go outside without a sunscreen that has at least an SPF 30 or higher.

Even indirect sun exposure during times may greatly affect skin complexion. You should, therefore, use a sun protection cream on cloudy days as well.
