A few years ago, after a careful documentation on the Internet, I established that I have the dry and sensitive type of skin. In my mind, this meant that I had to avoid in any way to scratch it or (OMG) exfoliate it. Well, this did not go as planned. After a few weeks without exfoliation, my face was more irritated than ever and I got more and more dry patches. Of course, I had to change my routine immediately and to find a scrub that will clean but not irritate my face. A few recipes and I decided: I will never use chemical scrubs again. Here are the recipes that helped me and that are completely natural and completely safe:
- Sugar and honey scrub. This was the first one that I tried, and it’s still one of my favorites. Mix one spoon of honey with a spoon of sugar and two spoons of water. Apply this on your face and massage for a few minutes. You can even leave it on for more than this; it will be a hydrating mask for your skin. Rinse it off with warm water and apply a moisturizer. Voila!
- Lemon and sugar scrub. If you have oily skin you want something that will act as a toner. Lemon is amazing for oily skin because it will clean your pores deeply, while the sugar will remove any dead skin. Mix a few spoons of lemon juice with a spoon of brown sugar. Massage this on your face and neck and rinse with cold water. The cold water will close your pores and it will prevent them from clogging.
- Coffee scrub. This is the best thing that you can do if you want to exfoliate your body after the shower. Get a few spoons of grinded coffee and mix it with two spoons of olive oil. Apply it on your body and rub your skin for a few minutes. When you clean yourself, leave some olive oil behind. It will make your skin super soft.
- Cornflour scrub. If you want something more harsh than usual to prepare your body for self-tanning for example, this is a good choice. It is not recommended to use it on your face because it can hurt your epidermis. Combine it with coconut oil and rub it gently on your body. Every single dead skin cell will be removed and you will not get strange looking dry patches.
